Foraminal Stenosis Pain Can Often be Treated at Laser Spine Institute

Foraminal Stenosis Pain Can Often be Treated at Laser Spine Institute

Fortunately for most sufferers of foraminal stenosis pain, treatment is as simple as visiting the physical therapist, performing some special exercises, and taking some pain or anti-inflammatory medication. For others, the tingling, numbness and throbbing can’t be quelled using conservative techniques and something more aggressive is needed. If you find yourself in this situation, Laser Spine Institute (LSI) can help.

We use two techniques to ease foraminal stenosis pain:

  • Foraminotomy: this procedure cleans the passageway through which nerves pass from the spinal canal to the rest of the body. In foraminal stenosis patients, that passage can narrow when tissue builds up, squeezing nerves and causing pain.
  • Laminotomy: this procedure removes a portion of the lamina, a bony plate on each vertebra that protects the spinal cord. This creates more space for spinal nerve tissue which is compressed by foraminal stenosis.

At LSI, both of these procedures are performed using endoscopic techniques, meaning that no large incision is needed and no muscle is cut or torn. Resulting in a quicker and less painful recovery compared to traditional back or neck surgeries. And, all of our procedures are tremendously effective. More than 85% of our patients report an increased quality of life within three months of their procedures.

If you’d like more information about treating your foraminal stenosis pain at LSI, contact us today. We’ll review your MRI or CT scan to determine if either of our procedures can help you.
